MEZCAL ARTESANAL • OAXACA, MEXICO

BORN OF EARTH. MARKED BY ART

THE STORY

VIVAROSE is a handcrafted mezcal with a signature you can see. Crafted in San Dionisio Ocotepec, in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca, it is a 100% agave Espadín artisanal mezcal finished with Grana Cochinilla, the legendary Oaxacan pigment that was once New Spain's most precious export after silver.

No artificial colors and no shortcuts:

agave, fire, copper, time, and a pigment with five hundred years of history.

Behind every bottle is a family of maestros Mezcaleros. VIVAROSE is handcrafted by Ancelmo López Luis, a fifth generation maestro mezcalero, the same way his family has made it for more than a century: agave cooked under ground with fire and stone, stone milled and distilled in copper.

Then we finish it with Grana Cochinilla, the natural Oaxacan pigment that gives VIVAROSE its crimson blood red.

A signature mezcal you can’t get anywhere else.

THE STORY / BEHIND THE RED

The Red That Dyed the World

Native to Oaxaca, grana cochinilla is a tiny insect harvested from the nopal cactus, dried in the sun and ground into a brilliant natural red dye.

Prized by the Zapotec, Mixtec, and Aztec civilizations, its rich color later traveled the world, coloring royal textiles, sacred robes, and masterpieces of art.

At VIVAROSE, grana cochinilla infuses our mezcal with its signature red—from vivid crimson to deep, blood red. No artificial colors.

Just agave, fire, copper, and centuries of tradition.

Ground by hand on traditional volcanic stone metate, grana cochinilla releases the rich red that gives VIVAROSE its distinctive color.

Two expressions.

One distinct spirit.

THE CRAFT

Made slowly.

Made by hand.

Our Espadín grows for roughly seven years before harvest. The piñas are slowly roasted in a traditional stone oven, crushed by stone mill, naturally fermented, and distilled twice in small copper stills.

Every step takes place in San Dionisio Ocotepec—from the field to the finished bottle.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SPIRIT

Five men posing among agave plants under a bright blue sky with mountains in the background. Mezcal makers are in the front and artist Brian Viveros and Mike Dirnt of Green Day are in the back.

Maestro mezcalero, Ancelmo López Luis, carries on a family tradition of more than a century. His brother, Julio López Luis, leads the daily work at the family palenque.

Together, they make every batch with knowledge passed down through generations.

Brian M. Viveros’ art gives the VIVAROSE bottle a visual voice as distinctive as the spirit inside.
